Atlanta Falcons forfeit fifth-round pick, fined for tampering with Kirk Cousins
The Atlanta Falcons were stripped of a fifth-round pick in next year’s draft on Thursday for violating the NFL’s anti-tampering rules prior to signing quarterback Kirk Cousins, wide receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Charlie Woerner in free agency in March.
Connor McDavid has gone back to the closet to find a spark for his team.
The Edmonton Oilers captain arrived at Game 3 on Thursday wearing an all-black suit.
McDavid wore an identical grey suit with a grey tie for the final three games of the Western Conference Final, all wins as the Oilers rallied to defeat the Dallas Stars in six games.
He then stuck with that combo for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final before changing his tie for Game 2. Both were losses to the Florida Panthers, necessitating a change as the series moved to Alberta.
“I’m excited to see what our group is made of, excited to see our group coming together,” McDavid said after Game 2. “Excited to see us fight through adversity, and looking forward to people doubting us again, with our backs against the wall.”
Will McDavid’s wardrobe change help pull his team back into this series? Tune into Game 3 on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ tonight at 8 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. MT to find out.
