JOB BOARDS

How Indeed Uses AI to Provide Better Matching Context for Job Seekers | Indeed

By using OpenAI GPT models, Indeed says it can better match the jobs it recommends to users. The increase in started applications might be an indication that it’s working. The Job Description Generator (for employers), is another feature rolling out. While it may save employers time, I’m hesitant to say it will make the job descriptions better.

ZipRecruiter’s new tool will quickly match and schedule an intro call with potential candidates | Tech Crunch

Another way to speed up the hiring process is to pre-pre screen applicants. This is particularly helpful for hire high-volume roles that may require fewer interview stages. ZipIntro matches the employer with potential candidates using AI and sends them an invitation for the call. The tool takes into account employment, education, skills, certifications, interests and types of jobs users are looking for while matching.

NETWORKING

How I Got “Lucky” Through Networking (And You Can Too) | Introverted Networker

Greg Roche writes: “Luck surface area” is a concept that suggests the more you put yourself out there by sharing your work, ideas, and efforts, the more opportunities (or “luck”) you are likely to attract.

It’s based on the idea that “luck” isn’t entirely random, but rather, it increases as your visibility and engagement grow.”

Follow the steps he lists to increase your luck!

TRENDS

This is it – AI is Finally Going To Kill The CV | This Week, In Recruiting – Issue 180

From a recruiter’s perspective, perhaps CV/resumes may die! Here’s why:

AI-powered job search tools enable “personalized mass apply,” allowing candidates to submit numerous tailored applications quickly and efficiently. The scale of AI-assisted applications could overwhelm traditional hiring systems. Employers are likely to respond by using AI to review CVs and generate candidate summaries, reducing human involvement in initial screening. This shift may lead to CV’s becoming less important as a source of candidate information, with AI-generated summaries taking precedence. Read to the end of the article to see the replacement and positive prediction!

WORKFORCE

How Immigration Remade the US Labor Force | Wall Street Journal via Hung Lee

See what jobs the immigrants to the US are securing and why.

It can take more than six months for someone who has entered the U.S. to receive a work permit, meaning that immigrants’ participation rate is likely to climb further in coming years.

5% of working-age Americans are unable to work—often because of chronic illness, disability, drug addiction or the need to care for family members—less than 1% of post-2020 immigrants report being unable to work.

The most-common occupations, according to the census data: construction laborers, maids and housecleaners, and cooks. Such jobs are more likely to be held by immigrants, especially those who arrived recently, than by American-born workers.
