8 Physical Ways to Relieve Stress if Breathwork Isn’t Doing It For You
Let it out.
If there’s one thing TikTok fans—and, well, all of us—love is mixing personal style and astrology. TikTok is flooded with videos on how to dress like your Venus sign, including this viral explainer on how Sabrina Carpenter mastered Venus in Cancer’s essence. Here’s the thing: The state of fashion and overconsumption can make it seem nearly impossible to figure out our personal style. (We’re constantly overstimulated by micro-trends, sales, and limited-edition drops.) The birth chart, the interstellar map to one’s life and personality, is a good starting point to explore your own fashion sense without all the distractions.
Sav Wilder, a certified astrologer and tarot reader, and personal stylist Mac Rose have you covered. Below, they share their advice for each of the Venus signs, along with fashionable recommendations.
What does Venus represent in your birth chart?
Venus represents love and romance, but just like everything in astrology, it’s a bit more nuanced than that. Venus is how and what we love. “It’s about what we see as desirable, and how that reflects our deeper longings,” says Wilder. So it’s not just about love and relationships but what you find attractive, joyful, or meaningful. That encompasses a whole lot and leaves many different ways to interpret style.
Should my personal style be based on my Venus sign?
Regarding style and astrology, there are two modes of thought: you go by your Venus sign or your rising sign. Venus represents aesthetics and creativity, while the rising sign represents how we present ourselves to others. Either works: every person is different, so part of the appeal is figuring out what areas of your birth chart you want to play around with.
Wilder recommends Venus signs for inspiration. “It’s the little things that guide you to finding your aesthetic preferences, what you’re drawn to in terms of beauty and desire,” she explains. Still, that doesn’t always mean your Venus sign will dictate how you dress. You might love a particular style, but it might not be how you want to present yourself.
Meanwhile, Rose uses astrology in personal styling to communicate with clients, specifically using clients’ “big three” (their sun, moon, and rising signs). But both agree that Venus and rising work, depending on the setting or what you’re looking for. For example, rising signs can be used for personal style comfort zones—what we gravitate towards in our everyday life—while Venus signs can be used for special occasions or a splurge.
Styling recommendations for your Venus sign
Aries
As the baby of the Zodiac, it makes sense for fiery Aries to have fun with fashion. It’s all about play. “I would go trendsetter,” Rose says, noting that Aries is always open to trying something new. “They also have that kind of unbounded playfulness.”
Aries also has an edge, and can lean into boldness. Adds Wilder, “With Mars being the influencer, there’s a preference for sharp and modern pieces.” Edgy, abstract pieces, like this patterned turtleneck from The Kit (below) will show off their confidence. Same goes for the Lisa Says Gah Lichen Skirt ($170) or Ganni’s adorable (but still badass) Black Patent Butterfly Bag ($445).
Taurus
Venus rules Taurus, so it feels right at home in this placement. It’s all about the senses for this earth sign—as long as it’s soft, they’re in. “There’s a love for comfort and luxury,” Wilder says. “It’s usually earthy tones like a sage green or a brown, like a light taupe.”
Fall fashion (and everything that comes with it) is entirely in Taurus’ wheelhouse. “They love the home and making the home cozy, so when it comes to clothes, it’s like their body is the home,” says Rose, who suggests natural fabrics such as a cashmere blend or 100% cotton. As for garments, pants with an elastic, like the Everlane Easy pant ($88), are comfortable for moving around. Basically, nothing that’s too hard or rigid, rather soft pieces of clothing “that can cocoon the body,” much like the Reformation’s Azure dress ($198). Let’s just say, if they could leave the house in their bedding, they would.
Gemini
The yappers of the zodiac, Geminis love a conversation starter. Gemini is all about communicating and connecting, so their fashion choices are themselves conversation pieces, Wilder says. “They will go on a hunt to find things that no one’s ever heard of.”
Geminis love anything unique and different, and hate sticking to a specific aesthetic. “I’d say their best bet is to be guided by their emotions,” Rose says. “It’s one of those signs that wants a little bit of everything, so their style is always changing and evolving.” Gemini style will never be cookie-cutter: they love what Rose calls “experimental clothes”—bubble hems (like the GEEL Tyler skirt, $115), big shapes, and even ripped items they made themselves. If they just want the look of homemade, they could also opt for this Urban Outfitters Urban Remade tank up ($24.99)
Cancer
Ruled by the moon, Cancers love to dress just like their celestial mother. “There’s a gravitation towards soft and flowy,” Wilder says. They might prefer soothing colors, like pastels and blues, or their jewelry is sentimental, such as a locket or pearls from a family member. It’s often something that means something to them.
They also love to emulate the hopeless romantic with lots of delicate details, like lace or eyelet. This simple but eye-catching Cannes dress from Lisa Says Gah ($120) or J.Crew’s lace-trim pant ($198) would be up their alley. “I wouldn’t say anything too oversized or too experimental,” adds Rose. “Cancers tend to play it safe sometimes, but not in a way that’s boring.”
Leo
Leos are creative powerhouses ruled by the sun, and their style reflects that. Think bold, bright colors that stand out. “[It’s] look at me, look at me, look at me,” Wilder says, noting that it doesn’t have to be your whole style. It could be some bold earrings or even just a noticeable fragrance.
As a fixed sign, Leos are stubborn and loyal, especially when it comes to their clothes. “They’ll definitely dip their toes in a trend, but Leos are the type of sign where once they’ve established what their personal style is—and they will take the time to establish their personal style—they’re going to stick with it,” Rose says. “They always have a point of view.”
Rose suggests a chunky cable knit sweater in saturated primary colors with a cool graphic (see: Lala I’m A Weirdo Slouchy Knit, $98). Also, a favorite coffee shop logo on a T-shirt paired with a mini-skirt and blazer or tote bag, like the Couplet Coffee Fall Edition Tote Bag, $15). They could also stand out with one cool detail, like Farm Rio’s Western-inspired denim (see below). “Having personal touches, that feels very Leo to me.”
Virgo
The best bet for Virgo Venus’ personal style is a uniform—but they’ve probably figured that out already. They’re nothing if not efficient, even with their style. “Virgo Venus is like a clean, polished, mathematical formula when it comes to outfits and clothes,” Wilder says. There is a formula to their wardrobe. “It’s not cluttered, because Virgo really craves order and balance.”
Structure is Virgo’s best friend, and their clothes should reflect that. Virgos are clean lines (Madewell Harlow Superwide-Leg Trouser, $148), sharp cuts (Everlane The Way-Short Shirt in Silky Cotton, $88), and very minimal (J.Crew Relaxed Patch-Pocket Blazer, $162.99), Rose says. “They’re thinking about clothing as a way to present themselves as a very articulated, put-together, Google-calendar type of person—and I respect that, but it does mean that there’s not as much room for playing.”
Libra
Libras are ruled by Venus but in a completely different way than Taurus. Whereas Taurus is cozy heaven, Libras are all for that flirty vibe. “There’s an effortless, graceful style [in a Libra]. It’s very soft. It’s flattering,” Wilder says. Basically, Venus in Libra is the embodiment of Aphrodite—Greek goddess-type of energy, like this Reformation x Kacey Musgraves Stella Silk Dress ($348).
Stereotyped as indecisive, they tend to flow between specific styles, but Rose recommends that Libras be consistent in a particular area: jewelry. “Libras are just flirtatious with life. They always want to try new food, new outfits, the new whatever, but they do love luxury—and so, for that, I would say a Libra should invest in fine and vintage jewelry,” Rose says.
They’re also all about the hidden luxury, adds Rose. They love an ornate object but mostly crave the tiny, luxurious details. So, for example, they might want to try a thrifted outfit but then accessorize with choice jewelry, like this Ben-Amun Necklace with Heart Locket Pendant ($70) or Antique Gold Filled Earrings Pierced Teardrop Vintage Jewelry ($110).
Scorpio
Scorpios’ style is exactly what you would expect it to be: witchy, moody, and a lot of black. Don’t get it twisted though; it’s anything but boring. “Scorpios… are very dark,” Rose says. They might prefer dark colors and textures such as lace or silk. “Something that still says luxury and I care, but it’s not difficult for them to put it together.”
For example, they could pair a classic pair of Dr. Martens Leather Lace Up Boots ($170) with this Rag & Bone Laurel Shine Skirt ($498) and Lisa Says Gah Petra Blouse ($128)
Even if the outfit isn’t risqué, it’s still memorable—in a way only a Scorpio can be. “You walk away from meeting a Venus in Scorpio and their style, you’re just like ‘wow, I need to talk about what just happened there,’” says Wilder. Their fashion vibe is mysterious and intense, with an evident love for black, burgundy, and dramatic, edgy styles. “But it doesn’t mean you have to wear a leather jacket—it means experimenting with what edgy means to you,” adds Wilder.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius represents the ninth House in astrology, known for travel, philosophy, and adventure—and that’s exactly what their style represents. “Being ruled by Jupiter means the style is so fun and carefree, with bold colors or patterns. It’s quirky. It’s free-spirited. It’s adventurous,” Wilder says.
They’re always on the move—whether physically running from one party to another or mentally jumping from one idea to the next—so their style needs to be free-flowing and move with them. Rose sees their style as a bit eclectic, with items grabbed from various moments in their life. “It’s gonna be my friend’s T-shirt that they gave me when we were 11, and my grandmother’s watch, and these pants that I just thrifted, you know?” Rose says. That means vintage or thrifted fashion as well as colorful textures, like the Lucy & Yak Brie Skirt in Clora Check Print ($33), the Free-est Santa Luz Maxi Dress ($98), or the muted neutral (but still fun) Pilcro Mid-Rise Heritage Barrel Jeans ($148). “They dance to the beat of their own drum.”
Capricorn
Ruled by Saturn, the planet of limitations and boundaries, Capricorn’s style works best when they have a limited number of clothes to work with—their creativity shines in controlled environments. Wilder believes they would benefit from a capsule wardrobe of high-quality tops—like T-shirts (Madewell Perfect Crewneck Tee, $42) and sweaters (see below)—as well as pairs of jeans (Everlane The Way-High Jean, $118). “There is a preference for structure within their outfits,” Wilder says. Plus, even if their clothes don’t have that structure, pairing it with something that does—like this Santos By Monica Pilar Hobo Bag ($395)—can make all the difference.
Their style might appear similar to Virgos, but the main difference is Capricorn’s reasons for getting dressed. “Capricorns would be more likely to use their clothes to their advantage, in terms of getting what they want out of a work situation, friendship, or romantic partnership,” Rose says. Their sleek items are tailored depending on “where they’re going or what they’re doing.”
Aquarius
Ruled by Saturn and Uranus, Aquarius probably won’t have a specific word to describe their styles—it’s just vibes, and different from the rest. It’s all about being unique, says Wilder, who can spot a Venus in Aquarius from miles away. They generally have a love for breaking fashion rules. “It’s quirky and offbeat, but it’s not even that—it reminds me of gender-neutral-type styles.”
It’s impossible for Aquarius Venus to put themselves in a box. That’s what makes figuring out their style nearly impossible. Rose’s advice? Try it all, but focus on feeling and texture, texture, texture. It can be subtle too, like these corduroy UO Baggy Cord Beach Pant ($59). “My first instinct for Aquarius was androgynous. It’s really hard to come across an Aquarian that’s like ‘I am this person.’” Rose says. “I would do a nice striped knit oversized sweater (Lucy & Yak Amari Oversized Knitted Jumper, $76), or something by Paloma Wool (Paloma Wool Gray Ponsa Tank Top, $175). They’re not gonna wear neons. It’s gonna be a feeling, like playing with style.”
Pisces
Ruled by Neptune, Pisces are true dreamers who will dress accordingly. “Pisces Venus has this dreamy and ethereal kind of vibe,” Wilder says. Venus in Pisces wants to share their feelings, and they gravitate towards flowy fabrics and soft pastels. “It’s almost like they got inspired by a dream,” says Wilder, who likens their style to singer Stevie Nicks.
As the dreamy water sign, their style is reminiscent of running water—drapey and soft, like this Reformation Amellia Silk Dress ($248). “They’re very elusive, fluid fabrics—just very soft, silky things like kimonos and silk trousers,” Rose says. Since Pisces are also creative, they might go the crochet route and even make a lot of their own pieces. “I will see Pisces so often pairing a hard black combat boot (Dr. Martens Satin Mary Jane Shoes, $95) with a maxi dress or a crochet top (Wearnative Crochet Crop Top, $45.99).”
