JOB SEARCH

11 Reasons To Job Search During the Holidays | Alison Doyle, The Balance

As tempting as it seems to pause your job search right now, don’t! There are 11 reasons, but my favorite is less competition. Many job seekers feel they need a break and slow down their job search during December. Let their loss be your gain!

LINKEDIN

Does ID verification Matter? | Kelli Hrivnak

This isn’t to say it’s not important – LinkedIn ID verification is important to know about. What the poll asked was “Does the ID verification influence your decision to connect or communicate with others on LinkedIn?” And the results showed that 75% of respondents didn’t care if a profile was verified – unless there was a reason to doubt the authenticity of the profile. Read the comments and make your own decision because knowledge is power.

CAREER

Navigating Career Uncertainty: The Role of Flexibility | Psychology Today

The rate of change is quickening and in case you didn’t hear, the linear career path is becoming obsolete. What this means is that YOU now have greater control over your career should you choose to. And this article suggests that a personal mission statement could be the key to navigating your next change. Even more important is developing resilience strategies that include having a support network, creating a positive mindset, setting short-term goals and diversifying income streams.

To-Do Lists vs Time Blocking | Ruben Hassid

Personally, I’m a huge fan of time blocking so when I saw this post, I had to reshare the logic of why it works over to-do lists. You don’t need to be a “creator” to benefit from time blocking. It’s just a simple way of managing your time better (without distractions).
* I’m not endorsing his newsletter or services- just the logic of time blocking.

Harvard prof who spent 10 years studying retirees: How to ensure a ‘smooth transition into a satisfying retirement life’ | CNBC

The question IS NOT “Will I have enough money to retire?” The real question you need to ask yourself is “Would I be more likely to say that my work is what I do or my work is who I am?” Answering this question will help you define the gap between work you and retired you. It can also help you find a way to build a satisfying bridge into retirement.
