Draft your announcement somewhere other than LinkedIn for easier editing and formatting. The ideal length is between 300-400 words. You want it to be easily skimmable so keep your paragraphs short.
1. Be Specific, Not Vague
Avoid the temptation to appear “open to anything,” which translates to “not committed to anything” in your network’s eyes. Instead, be laser-focused:
- Specify the exact job titles you’re targeting
- Highlight your preferred industries
- Outline ideal projects, areas of work, or processes/procedures you enjoy and are good at
