Mathew Barzal scores in 2nd OT, Islanders beat Hurricanes to avoid sweep

Mathew Barzal scored his second goal of the game on a deflection 1:24 into the second overtime and the New York Islanders beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 in Game 4 on Saturday to avoid a sweep in their first-round playoff series.

One of the main reasons the Toronto Maple Leafs trail the Boston Bruins in their first-round series has been special teams.

That hasn’t changed in Game 4 and Maple Leafs fans are beginning to lose patience.

After Bruins captain Brad Marchand scored a power-play goal midway through the second period, fans voiced their frustration on social media. The goal extended the Bruins’ special teams lead to 6-1 in the series and came after the Maple Leafs had failed to convert on two power plays of their own.
