Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley not expected to play in pre-season finale
It appears Toronto Raptors point guard Immanuel Quickley won’t be able to play in the team’s pre-season finale, Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported Thursday.
The Cleveland Guardians were finished.
Their unhittable closer had been conquered by the New York Yankees‘ biggest stars, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, the heart of their order came up and was sent down by New York’s relief ace Luke Weaver and the home crowd was silenced as its team trailed 5-3.
But there’s a reason they play all 27 outs. The Guardians used the last of those 27 to provide two of the most epic post-season moments in what’s already been a thrilling October.
First, Lane Thomas extended the game with a double off the top of the wall in left-centre, bringing pinch-hitter Jhonkensy Noel or ‘Big Christmas’ to the plate with Cleveland staring down a 3-0 deficit in this David vs. Goliath ALCS.
And Noel brought the Guardians back from the land of defeat, putting an early present under every Cleveland fan’s tree, launching a Weaver changeup 404 feet over the left wall to tie the game.
Capped with an epic bat toss, Noel brought the Progressive Field crowd back to life, sending the game to extra innings.

In extras, Guardians right-hander Pedro Avila held the line, getting some help from his defence to give his club the chance to walk it off.
With a runner on third and two outs, ALDS hero David Fry was thrust into the limelight, the game hanging in the balance of his at-bat. Any hit would have gotten the job done, but the way Game 3 unfolded, only the grandest finish would have fit the script, and that’s exactly what Fry provided.
The 28-year-old All-Star took Clay Holmes’ 1-2 sinker and put it into the left-field bleachers, unleashing pandemonium among Guardians players and fans alike and giving Cleveland life in the best-of-seven Championship Series.
As soon as Fry’s home run ball touched down, baseball and sports fans took to social media to celebrate the all-time classic played by the Yankees and Guardians on Thursday night.
